Open-source research · Rust
Most tools treat language models as stateless functions. pulse-null is a scaffold so their work can accumulate — identity, memory, prediction error, and measurement around a model that still does the thinking.
This is not a consciousness claim.
pulse-limits is the one you can install today. The rest is early work. Built in the open by dnacenta.
❯ brew install pulse-null/tap/pulse-limits && pulse-limits installmacOS: ring in the menu bar. click it for the monitor.❯ curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pulse-null/pulse-limits/main/install.sh | bashLinux: same binary, ring in Waybar. pulse-limits tui for a terminal tile.
01 — The work
A plan-limit monitor you can install in one command, plus persistent memory, cognitive scaffolding, and the interfaces that hang off them.
Your AI plan limits as a retro patient monitor.
Claude, Codex and Grok plan limits in the macOS menu bar, Waybar, and a terminal TUI. One Rust binary. No account, no server — it reuses the logins your CLIs already keep and asks each provider’s own usage endpoint.
One binary. One command. Your own AI pulse.
A cognitive architecture scaffold for long-running AI pulses. Identity documents, scheduled cognition, prediction-error tracking, and self-monitoring — so a language model’s work can accumulate across sessions instead of starting blank every time.
Persistent memory for coding agents.
Four-layer memory with a Bayesian knowledge graph, curated facts, recent session summaries, and searchable archives. Installs as a CLI, speaks MCP, and closes the loop that depends on the agent remembering to remember.
The pulse watches itself think.
Metacognitive monitoring: pipeline enforcement, reflection-quality signals computed from the pulse’s own output, and outcome tracking — with a unified health assessment from HEALTHY down to ALERT.
Growth that does not depend on remembering to grow.
Pipeline enforcement for document-driven self-evolution. Moves ideas from encounter through incubation and crystallization into identity and policy — so documents do not stagnate.
Talk to a pulse over the phone.
Voice interface via Twilio — the same pulse, a different channel. Optional pulse-null plugin.
Text channels as a pulse surface.
Discord text integration for echo-system pulses. Modular plugin, not a product bot.
Voice channels, same pipeline.
Discord voice sidecar for voice-echo — talk to a pulse in a voice channel using the same pipeline that powers phone calls.
A web chat surface for the ecosystem.
Web chat interface for echo-system pulses. Another way in, same identity and memory underneath.
The plugin contract.
Shared types for the pulse-null plugin ecosystem — so memory, voice, and Discord plugins speak the same language.

02 — Architecture
pulse-null does not replace the language model. It wraps persistence, feedback, and measurement around it. recall-echo can also run alone — for anyone whose coding agent forgets the session the moment it ends.
03 — Pipeline
Documents have thresholds. When they fill, older content is archived. The pulse has to distill, not hoard. Growth cannot depend on remembering to grow.
04 — Honesty
The language model performs the cognitive operations — predicting, reflecting, distilling, deciding. pulse-null provides the parts that make those operations accumulate: persistence, feedback routing, prediction-error tracking, Bayesian memory, and measurement.
Inspired by predictive processing. Explicitly not an implementation of active inference. The code says so too.
These repositories have bugs. Plugins are incomplete. The continuous thinking loop is a first cut. If something is useful, star it or open an issue — this is a solo project, and that is how I know people are looking.
The model thinks; the architecture makes the thinking compound.

brew install pulse-null/tap/pulse-limits && pulse-limits installRepository
Coding agents
Persistent memory your coding agent can query in its own words. Works with Grok and other MCP clients. No pulse-null required.
cargo install recall-echo recall-echo initRepository
Long-running pulses
The full scaffold. A single Rust binary, a short wizard, then a process with identity documents, a scheduler, and recall-echo as its memory layer. Research prototype — expect rough edges.
